A factory produces 40 kg of calcium in two hours by electrolysis. How much aluminium can be produced by same current in 2 hours if current efficiency is 50%?

A

22 kg

B

18 kg

C

9 kg

D

27 kg

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

`(W_(Ca))/(W_(Al)) = (E_(Ca))/(E_(Al))`
`therefore (40)/(W_(Al)) = (20)/(9)`
`therefore W_(Al) = (40 xx 9)/(20) = 18` kg
