State one defect of Huygens's wave theory.

According to Huygens' principle each point on the wavefront emanating from the source acts as a secondary source and from this source wavelets are supposed to spread out unitformly in all directions including in the direction of the source. But in reality , no such back wavefront (that traverses back to the direction of the source ) exists and Huygens' principle fails to explain the reason behind the absence of back wavefront.
