The substances which can give oxygen to other substance are called oxidant or oxidizing agents.
E.g. Potassium permanganate `(KMnO_(4))` and potassium dichraomate `(K_(2)Cr_(2)O_(7))` in acidic or alkaline medium are commonly used oxidants.
