The work of 142kJ is performed in order to compress one kilo mole of gas adiabatically and in this process the temperature of the gas increases by `7^@C`. The gas is `(R=8.3Jmol^-1K^-1)`

A

diatomic

B

triatomic

C

mixture of monoatomic and diatomic

D

monoatomic

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
A

For adiabatic , `W = (P_(1)V_(1)-P_(2)V_(2))/(gamma-1) = (nR(T_(1)-T_(2)))/(gamma-1)`
Putting values, we get `gamma = 1.4`, hence diatomic.

The work of 146 kJ is performed in order to compress one kilo mole of a gas adiabatically and in this process the temperature of the gas increases by 7^@C . The gas is (R=8.3ml^-1Jmol^-1K^-1)

One mole of an ideal gas (gamma=7//5) is adiabatically compressed so that its temperature rises from 27^(@)C to 35^(@)C the work done by the gas is (R=8.47J/mol-K)

In a process, temperature and volume of one mole of an ideal monoatomic gas are varied according to the relation VT= K, where K is a constant. In this process the temperataure of the gas is increased by DeltaT . The amount of heat absorbed by gas is (R is gas constant).

A monoatomic gas (gamma=5//3) is suddenly compressed to (1//8) of its volume adiabatically then the pressure of the gas will change to
