A straight horizontal conducrting rod of length `0.45m ` and mass 60g is suspended by two vertical wires at its ends. A current of `5.0A` is set up in the rod through the wires.
What will be the total tension in the wires the direction of current is reversed keeping the magnetic field the same as before ? (Ignor the mass of th wires `g=9.8 m*s^(-2)`.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

If the directon of the current is reversed, the tension in the wire will be doubled.
`:.T=2xx` weight of the rod
`=2xx60xx10^(-3)xx9.8N`.
`=1.18N`
