An observer looks at a distant tree of height 10m with a telescope of magnifying power of 20 . To the observer the tree appears

A

10 times taller

B

10 times nearer

C

20 times taller

D

20 times nearer

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
The option C is correct.

An the tree is situated at a large distance , the rays coming from it may be taken as paraller . Hence , it can be considered that the tree is situated at infinity . In case of focussing for infinity , the final image is formed at infinity. Now magnifying power,
`m=("height of the image")/("height of the object")=20`
Hence, the tree appears 20 times taller.
