What will be the change of mass when 10g of magnesium is heated strongly in oxygen? (Mg=24)

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`2Mg(48g) + O_(2) to 2MgO(80g)`
48g of Mg gives 80g of MgO
`therefore` 10g of Mg gives `(80xx10)/(48)=16.67g` of MgO
`therefore` Increase in mass=(16.67-10)g=6.67g.
