The diameter of zinc atom is 2.6 Å. Calculate (1) radius of zinc atom in pm and (2) number of atoms present in a length of 1.6 cm if the zinc atoms are arranged side by side lengthwise.

(1) Radius`=(2.6"Å")/(2)=1.3"Å"=1.3xx10^(-10)m`
`=1.3xx10^(-10)xx10^(12)"pm"=130` pm
(2) Given, length `=1.6cm=1.6xx10^(-2)m` and diameter of one zinc atom`=2.6"Å"=2.6xx10^(-10)m`
`therefore`Number of zinc atoms present along the length of 1.6 cm
`=(1.6xx10^(-2)m)/(2.6xx10^(-10)m)=6.154xx10^(7)`
