Dual behaviour of matter proposed by de ...

Dual behaviour of matter proposed by de Broglie the discovery of electron microscope often used for the highly magnified images of biological molecules and other types of material. If the velocity of the electron in this microscope is `1.6xx10^(6)m*s^(-1)`, calculate de Broglie wavelength associated with this electron.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Velocity of an electron (v)=`1.6xx10^(6)m*s^(-1)` and mass of an electron `(m)=9.108xx10^(-31)kg`
`therefore`de Broglie wavelength `(lamda)=(h)/(mv)`
`=(6.626xx10^(-34))/(9.108xx10^(-31)xx1.6xx10^(6))`
`=4.55xx10^(-10)m=455`pm
