It is the arithmetic mean of velocities of gas molecules. Let there be `n_1` molecules with velocity `V_1,n_2` molecules with velocity `V_2`, `n_3` Molecules with velocity `V_3` and so on.
The average velocity
`(overlineC)=(n_1V_1+n_2V_3+n_3V_3+....)/(n_1+n_2+n_3+....)`
