What is coefficient of viscosity? Give its units.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Coefficient of viscosity is the force when velocity gradient is unity and the area of contact is unit area. It is represented by `eta`.
Units of viscosity coefficient `eta`.
In SI units I newton second per square meter `(Nsm^-2)` =Pascal second
`(Pas=1 kgm^-1 s^-1)`.
In CG system the unit of viscosity is poise,
`1poise=1gcm^-1s^-1=10^-1kgm^-1s^-1`.
