Charle's law: At constant pressure, the volume of a given mass of gas is directly proportional to its absolute temperature.
Mathematically it can be written as
`V prop T`(P and n are constant)
V=kT
or `V/R=k`:
It is proportionality constant.
Charle's law can also be defined as for a fixed mass of gas at constant pressure volume of a gas increases on increasing temperature and decreases on cooling. For each degree in temperature volume of the gas increases by `1/273.15` of the original volume of the gas at `0^@C`.
Thus it volume of the gas at `0^@C` and `1^@C` are `V_0` and `V_t` respectively then
`V_t=V_0+t/273.15V_0`
or `V_t=V+0[1+t/273.15]`
or`V_t=V_0[(273.15+t)/27.15]`
IF `V_1` is the volume of a gas at temperature `T_1` and `V_2` is the volume of same mass of gas at a temperature `T_2`, then according to Charle's law.
`V_1/V_2=k and V_2/T_2=kthereforeV_1/T_1=V_2/T_2`
