Two reasons for using soft iron as the material for electromagnets .

A

low permeability and high receptivity

B

high permeability and low receptivity

C

low permeability and low receptivity

D

high permeability and high receptivity

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

the magnetic permeability of soft iron is very high . So , when current flows through it , the electromagnet becomes very strong . On the other hand , as its receptivity is low , the magnetism disappears as soon as the current flow is stopped .
