Calculate the minimum and maximum tensions in a string of length 1m, one end of which is tied to a stone of mass 0.010 kg and whirled with a uniform speed of `10ms^(-1)(g=9.8ms^(-2))`.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given, `m=0.01kg, g=9.8ms^(-2),v=10ms^(-1),r=1m`
At A, T=`T_("min")=(mv^2)/r-mg=m((v^2)/r-g)=0.01((100)/1-9.8)`
=0.902N
At B, T=`T_("max")=mg+(mv^2)/r=m(g+(v^2)/r)`
`=0.01(9.8+(1000)/(1))=1.098N`
