`(a)` Contact force arises due to locking of two surfaces due to irregularities (sides) on the surfaces.
e.g. : Normal reaction force is the normal component of the reaction due to two surfaces in contact with each other.
`(b)` Force of friction is always opposite to the direction of relative motion between the two surfaces.
Note : viscous force due to flow of liquids and viscous air drag due to flow of air are contact forces which are non-conservative.
