Consider a light source placed at a distance of 1.5 m along the axis facing the convex side of a spherical mirror of radius of curvature 1m . The position (s') nature and magnification (m) of the image are

A

s' = 0.375m, Virtual, upright, m =0.25

B

s' = 0.375m, Real, inverted, m =0.25

C

s' = 3.75m, Virtual, inverted, m =2.5

D

s' = 3.75m, Real, upright, m = 2.5

The correct Answer is:
A

Answer (1) Object distance, u = -1.5cm Radius of curvature, R = 1m
1/v + 1/u = 1/f = 2/R .
1/v + 1/(-1.5) = 2/1 .
`therefore v = 0.375 m = s^-1` .
Magnification, m = -v/u = -0.375/-1.5 `therefore m = 0.25 .
Convex mirrors produce virtual, upright images..
