According to Le Chatelier's principle, what is the effect of adding heat to a solid and liquid in equilibrium?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In the equilibrium system solid`hArr`liquid, the forward process is endothermic. Therefore, if temperature is increased at equilibrium, then, according to Le chatelier's principle, equilibrium will shift to the right, thereby increasing the amount of liquid.
