Find out the value of `K_(c)` for each of of the following equilibria from the value of `K_(p)`:
`2NOCl(g)hArr 2NO(g)+Cl_(2)(g),K_(p)=1.8xx10^(-2)` at 500K

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The expression, `K_(p)=K_(c)(RT)^(Deltan)`, is used for calculating the value of `K_(c)` from the given value of `K_p`.
For the reaction, `2NOCl(g)hArr 2NO(g)+Cl_(2)(g),Deltan=(2+1)-2=+1`
Given: `K_(p)=1.8xx10^(-2) and T=500K`
`therefore K_(c)=(K_(p))/(RT)=(1.8xx10^(-2))/(0.0821xx500)=4.38xx10^(-4)`
