Find out the value of `K_(c)` for each of of the following equilibria from the value of `K_(p)`:
`CaCO_(3)(s)hArr CaO(s)+CO_(2)(g),K_(p)=167` at 1073 K.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The expression, `K_(p)=K_(c)(RT)^(Deltan)`, is used for calculating the value of `K_(c)` from the given value of `K_p`.
For the reaction, `CaCO_(3)(s)hArr CaO(s)+CO_(2)(g), Deltan=1-0=1` Given: `K_(p)=167 and T=1073K`
`therefore K_(c)=(K_(p))/(RT)=(167)/(0.0821xx1073)=1.88`
