Which of the following reactions will get affected by increasing the pressure? Also, mention whether change will cause the reaction to go into forward or backward direction.
(1) `COCl_(2)(g)hArr CO(g)+Cl_(2)(g)`
(2) `CH_(4)(g) +2S_(2)(g) hArr CS_(2)(g)+2H_(2)S(g)`
(3) `CO_(2)(g)+C(s)hArr 2CO(g)`
(4) `2H_(2)(g)+CO(g)hArr CH_(3)OH(g)`
(5) `CaCO_(3)(s)hArr CaO(s)+CO_(2)(g)`
(6) `4NH_(3)(g)+5O_(2)(g) hArr 4NO(g)+6H_(2)O(g)`.

All the given reactions except reaction (2) will get affected by increasing pressure. This is because apart from reaction (2), volume change takes place in all other reactions.
In reactions (1), (3), (5) and (6), volume decrease in the backward direction. so, in each of these reactions increase in pressure with make the backward reaction occur to a greater extent.
In reaction (4), volume decreases in the forward direction. so, increase in pressure will favour the forwards reaction to occur to a greater extent.
