Predict if the solutions of the following salts are neutral, acidic or basic: NaCl, KBr, NaCN, `NH_(4)NO_(3),NaNO_(2) and KF`.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

NaCl and KBr are the salts of strong acid and strong base. Hence, their solutions would be neutral.
`NH_(4)NO_(3)` is a salt of weak base and strong acid. Hence, its solutions would be acidic.
NaCN, `NaNO_(2)` and KF are the salts of weak acid and strong base. hence, their solutions would be basic.
