Why noble gases have comparatively large atomic sizes?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Atomic radii of noble gases are largest in their respective periods. Because, noble gases only have van der Waals' radii while others have covalent radii (van der Waals' radii are larger than covalent radii). Thus noble gases have larger atomic sizes.
