Sodium bisulphite is used to purify aldehydes and ketones. Explain.

Aldehydes and ketones (except benzophenone) react with a saturated solution of `NaHSO_(3)` to form white crystalline precipitates which are filtered. These are easily decomposed by aqueous `HCl` or `NaOH` to regenerates these compounds in pure from.
