Tetrachloroethane, `Cl_(2)CH-CHI_(2)` is suspended to be carcinogenic and also contaminates the ground water. The harmful effect to will be prevented by using liquified `CO_(2)` along with suitable detergent.
Use of liquified `CO_(2)` along with detergent will not the completely safe bacause most of the detergents are non-biodegradable and they cause water pollution. Moreover liquidified `CO_(2)` will ultimately enter into the atmosphere and contributed to the green house effect.
