An aqueous solution of a non-volatile solute boils at `100.17^(@)C`. At what temperature will the solution freeze? (Given: `K_(b) = 0.512` and `K_(f) = 1.86`)

We know that,
`Delta T_(b) =` molality `xx K_(b)`
0.17 = molality `xx 0.512`
Molality of the solution `=(0.17)/(0.512)m`
Let depression in freezing point be `Delta T_(f)`
`Delta T_(f)`= molality `xx K_(f)`
`=(0.17)/(0.512)xx1.86 = 0.62^(@)C`
Thus, the freezing point of the solution
`= 0.00-0.62 = -0.62^(@)C`.
