At 293.2K, the density of a 60% aqueous solution of methanol is 0.8946 g/mL. Calculate volume of 1 mole of the solution.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
28.46 mL/mol

Let volume of solution be 100 mL
`W=100xx0.8946=89.46g`
`n_(CH_(3)OH)=(60)/(32)=1.875`
`n_(H_(2)O)=(29.46)/(18)=1.636`
Total moles `= 1.875 + 1.636 = 3.511`
Volume per mole `= (100)/3/511)=28.48 mL//mol`]
