Dilution of an electrolyte helps in incr...

Dilution of an electrolyte helps in increasing its electrical conductivity. But it has an adverse effect as well. Discuss.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

On dilution of the electrolyte, the ions get hydrated e.g., `Na^(+)(aq)` and `Cl^(-)(aq)`. As a result, their size increases and mobility decreases. This will result in decreasing the electrical conductivity.
