What is meant by critical velocity of a liquid? Explain the characteristic of turbulent motion.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Critical velocity is that maximum velocity with which a liquid maintains a streamline flow and above that velocity, the flow becomes unsteady or turbulent.
The rotating or whirling effect of flow of liquid or air carries turbulence. Neither spoed nor dirEçtion can be maintained at any point in the fluid under turbulent conditions.
