An injection syringe has a needle with an area of cross-section `1.96 xx 10^(-7)m^(2)`. The piston end of the syringe has an area of `3.14 xx 10^(-4) m^(2)`. If a force of 0.098N is applied then calculate the force on the blood vessel. What fraction of the total force applied is executed on the vessel.?

Text Solution

Applying Pascal.s law `F_(1)/A_(1)=F_(2)/A_(2)`
`F_(2)=(F_(1))/(A_(1))A_(2)=(0.098 xx 1.96 xx 10^(-7))/(3.14 xx 10^(4)) =0.0612 xx 10^(-3)`
`F_(2)=6.12 xx 10^(-5)N`
Fraction of the applied forec on the blood vessel `=F_(2)/F_(1)=(6.12 xx 10^(-5))/(9.8 xx 10^(-2))=0.624 xx 10^(-3)`
=0.062% of the force applied on the piston.
