A point charge +Q is surrounded by two uncharged concentric conducting shells as shown. The region of space inside the inner shell is A, the region of space between the two shells is B and the regionof space outside of the outer shell is C. Regarding the electric field whihc of the following is correct?

A

it exists in A only

B

it exists in B and C only

C

it exists in C only

D

it exists in A,B and C

The correct Answer is:
C

Visualize concentric Gaussian spheres of radii less that the or inner shell, more than that of inner shell but less than that of outer shell and more than that of outer shell. Al these contains a net charge +Q suggesting that field must exist in A,B and C. Remember the total induced charges on both the shells is zero as induction is only redistribution of charge but not creation of charge.
