A man is standing on a platform moving up and down as a `S.H.M.` will there be any change in his weight as recorded by a weighing machine on the platform ?

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
Yes, there will be a change in the weight of the man. When the platform moves from the mean position to wards the extreme position, the acceleration of `S.H.M` is vertically downwards and hence his weight will decrease. On the other hand, when the platform moves from the mean position to the lower extreme position and then back to the mean position, the acceleratio of `S.H.M` acts verically upwards and hence the weight of the man will increase.
