If heat dissipated in a resistance can be determined from the relation: H = `I^(2)Rt` joule
If the maximum error in the measurement of current resistance and time are 2%, 1% and 1% respectively, what would be the maximum error in the dissipated heat?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`H = l^(2)`RT
`(DeltaH)/(H)=2(DeltaI)/(I)+(DeltaR)/(R)+(DeltaT)/(T)`
In terms of percentage error,
`[(DeltaH)/(H)xx100] = 2[(DeltaI)/(I)xx100]+[(DeltaR)/(R)xx100]+[(DeltaT)/(T)xx100]`
= [2(2)+1+1] % = 6%
