What is the effect of the reduction of the volume of the system for the equilibrium
`2C(s)+O_(2)(g)hArr2CO(g)?`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

On reducing volume, pressure will increase. According to Le-Chatelier principle, equilibrium will shift to the side accompanied by decrease of pressure or decrease in number of gaseous mole i.e. backward reaction.
