Two cubes of edge 10 m each joined together to form a single cuboid. The ratio of the total surface area of one of the cubes and that of the single cuboid formed is ______.

A

`5:3`

B

`2:1`

C

`3:5`

D

`1:2`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C

`"Total surface area of original cube "=6xx10^(2)`
`=6xx100=600m^(2)`
The length of the cuboid formed = 10 + 10
= 20 m and breadth = height = 10 m
`therefore "Total surface area of the cuboid"`
`=2(20xx10+10xx10+10xx20)=2(200+100+200)`
`=2xx500=1000m^(2)`
The required ratio = `600:1000=6:10=3:5`
