Why is it that the line of treatment for a genetic disease is different from infectious diseases?

Infectious are controlled by using methods like killings of pathogens and strengthening the immune system . However in genetic diseases, due to malfucntioning of gene, wrong proteins and defective enzymes are formed . Such dieases cannot be controlled by methods used for curing infectious diseases.
