It is the capacity of pigment to absorb photon of light and to get into excited state. Extruded electron contains chemical energy which is used for synthesis of food. Maximum light is absorbed in red and blue regions of spectrum of light by chlorophyll. Due to this, rate of photosynthesis is higher in these regions.
