How would you account for the following:
`H_2S` is more acidic than `HP_2O`.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`H_2S` is more acidic than `H_2O`. This can be explained in terms of their bond energies. Bond energy of H - O bond is more than that of H - S bond. It is more difficult to break H - O bond to liberate `H^(+)` ions.
