Define the order of reaction. Give one example for fraction order reaction.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The sum of the powers of the concentration terms of each reactant in the experimentally determined rate equation is called order of reaction.
Example for fractional order reaction is
`H_(2) + Br_(2) rarr 2HBr`
Rate eqn is `r = K[H_(2)]^(1)[Br_(2)]^((1)/(2))`
order = 1+0.5= 1.5
