Helium and neon do not form compounds with fluorine. Why ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

He and Ne do not contain d-orbitals in their respective valence shells and hence their electrons cannot be promoted to higher energy levels like that in Xe to form bonds. Therefore, He and Ne do not form compounds with fluorine.
