The H - N - H angle value is higher than H-P-H, H-As-H and H-Sb-H angles. Why ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In group-15, moving from nitrogen to bismuth, the atomic size increases and electronegativity decreases as a result the electron density on central decreases. Also, the `sp_3` character of central atom becomes less distinct. This results in decrease of bond angles.
