How is SO2 an air pollutant ?...

How is `SO_2` an air pollutant ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`SO_(2)` combines with the moisture of an air to form sulphuric acid. Acid rain causes damage to agriculture, building and statues made of marbles, lime stone etc. `2SO_2 + O_2 + 2H_2O to 2H_2SO_4`
Concentration of `SO_2` exceeding 5 ppm causes irritation to throat and eyes.
