Simplify: (x+y)^3-(x-y)^3-6y(x^2-y^2)...

Simplify: `(x+y)^3-(x-y)^3-6y(x^2-y^2)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

We have
`(x+y)^3-(x-y)^3-6y(x^2-y^2)`
` =(x+y) ^3(x-y)^3-3 (x+y)(x-y)xx {(x+y)-(x-y)}`
` =a^3-b^3-3ab(a-b), "where " x+y=a and x-y=b`
`=(a-b)^3={(x+y)-(x-y)}^3=(2y)^3=8y^3`.
