Can all the disaccharides are reducing sugars ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Sucrose is a non reducing sugar. This is because glycosidic linkage takes place between anomeric hydroxyl of glucose `(C_(1))` and anomeric hydroxyl group of fructose `(C_(2))`.
Maltose and lactose are examples of reducing sugars.
