A pipe of lengh 1m is closed at one end....

A pipe of lengh `1m` is closed at one end. The velocity sound in air is `300m//s`. The air column in the pipe will not resonate for sound of frequency

A

75 Hz

B

225 Hz

C

300 Hz

D

375 Hz

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C

The pipe will resonate for `L=(2n-1)(lambda)/(4)`
where, n = 1, 2, 3,…..
Frequency, `upsilon=(v)/(lambda)=(v(2n-1))/(4L)=(300(2n-1))/(4xx1)`
The pipe will resonante for frequencies 75 Hz, 225 Hz, 375 Hz, and so on. But it will not resonante with frequency 300 Hz.
