Draw the graph of y=(x+1)^(2//3) + (x-1)...

Draw the graph of `y=(x+1)^(2//3) + (x-1)^(2//3)`

Text Solution

We have y = `f(x) =(x+1)^(2/3) + (x+1)`
Domain of function is R
f(0)=2n
also curve never intersect x axis
f(X) =f(X) so fucnton is even hence graph is symetrical about y axis
`f(x)=(2)/(3)(x+1)^(1/3)+(2)/(3)(x-1)^(-1)/(3)`
`=2/3(x+1^(1/3))+(x-1^(1/3))/(x+1^(1/3))(x-1^(1/3))`
Critical points are x = -1,0,1
f(X) does not exist at x =-1 and x = 1 hence function is non differntiable at these points
f(x)=0
Sigh scheme of f(x) is
