ATP is source of energy for muscle contraction. In each myosin molecule ATPase enzyme is present at the head region.
In the presence of this enzyme along with `Ca^ (2+)` and `Mg^ (2+)` ions. ATP molecule dissociate into ADP + Pi and energy is released from the head of myosin with the energy obtained from ATP, excited myosin forms cross-bridge with actin and muscle contraction is initiated.
