Explain the following terms with suitable examples :
(i) Cationic detergents
(ii) Anionic detergents.

(i) Cationic detergents : These are quaternary ammonium salts of amines with acetates, chlorides and bromides, e.g., cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide. These have germicidal property.
(ii) Anionic detergents : These are sodium salts of sulphonated long chain alcohols or hydrocarbons e.g., sodium dodecylbenzene sulphonate. These are used in toothpaste and household works.
