Why is it difficult to walk on sand or ice ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

When we press the sand by our feet in the downward direction the sand gets displacement very little with the result that the reaction from the sand is very small. Hence we cannot walk.
In case of ice, the very small small friction between our feet and ice gives rise to very small force of reaction.
