A cricket ball of mass 100 g moving with a speed of `30 "ms"^(-1)` is brought to rest by a player in 0.03 s. Find the average force applied by the player.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Average force
F= `("Change in momentum")/("Time t") =(-3.0 kg ms^(-1))/(0.03s)`
=- 100 N
Negative sign here shows that the force is applied in a direction opposite to the direction of motion of ball.
