In DeltaABC, if b(b +c) = a^(2) and c(c ...

In `DeltaABC`, if `b(b +c) = a^(2) and c(c + a) = b^(2)`, then `|cos A.cos B. cos C|` is______

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
`(-0.125)`

`b (b + c) = a^(2)`
`:. Bc = a^(2) -b^(2)`
`:. sin B sin C = sin^(2) A - sin^(2)B`
`:. sin B sin C = sin (A +B) sin (A -B)`
`rArr sin B = sin (A -B)`
`rArr 2B = A`
Similarly, from `c(c +a) = b^(2)`, we get `2C = B`
Now, `A + B + C = pi`
`rArr 2B + B + (B)/(2) = pi`
`rArr B = (2pi)/(7)`
`:. A = (4pi)/(7), C = (pi)/(7)`
`rArr cos A . cos B . cos C`
`"cos"(pi)/(7) . "cos"(2pi)/(7). "cos"(4pi)/(7)`
`= (1)/(2^(3) "sin"(pi)/(7)). "sin" (8pi)/(7)`
`= (1)/(8 "sin" (pi)/(7)) (-"sin"(pi)/(7))`
`= -(1)/(8) = -0.125`
